The store in Killeen, Texas was great when I went there, had me wishing we had one in Arkansas where I live. Went primarily to buy a specific caliber of ammo that I couldn't find anywhere else, ended up buying some other also due to the decent prices. The staff was friendly and helpful even offering a veteran discount on my purchase

Good place to get all kinds of ranch and outdoor stuff, as well as pet and vet supplies. Good customer service. Masks be damned.

Thank you for the feedback, Patrick. We appreciate you choosing to shop at Murdoch's!

I really do hate shopping here, but when it's the only store in this one horse town you're kinda screwed unless you want to spend an entire day driving the Cheyenne or Fort Collins.
Why do I hate shopping here you ask? The store is very poorly organized.
Examples. The weed killers and insecticides are all thrown on the shelf in a hodge podge mess on one isle. New Harvestright display set up right in the middle of the main entrance isle so everyone has walk around the person trying to look at the display.
Just about every time you walk into the clothing department there are three or four girls just sitting or standing around in the back talking and playing on their phones. Murdoch's must have a ton of labor to burn.
Hardly anything you actually need for a farm or ranch, mostly stuff you can find at the Ace or True Value Hardware store.
And lastly, poorly trained cashiers. A cashier is your most important person in the store. She or he is the one taking a customers money and the last impression a customer has of your store. When the cashiers are consistently unable to look up a ranch account, tax exempt account, or perform basic cashier functions, then they do not need to be on a register.
Bottom line, all of this falls back on the store manager. When the manager doesn't care about the store, the employees or the customers it results in what you see in this store.
I would start by removing the manger then some of the department managers and retraining everyone else in the store on who and what is most important.
Hopefully we (customers) can get a JAX or a Bomgaars in town soon so we can abandon Murdoch's completely.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Lots of nice merchandise. However, the staff was not abiding the COVID safety measures. If they had a mask on, it was below their nose or under their chin. They were also more Interested in socializing with each other rather than helping customers. Many of the customers were not wearing masks either. Will only go back if they have something specific I want but will shop elsewhere first.

Love this place. Used my tax return to purchase a rifle. However, the gun dude acted strange when I asked for the best caliber to defend myself against White Nationalist. What about my freedoms?

HORRIBLE UNFRIENDLY STAFF. Every time I come into Murdoch's the customer service is awful. The employees must honestly hate their jobs. I've also had several of my friend's complain about the service as well. If you don't want to work in retail than don't ! Other than that the store is clean, and they have good brands and the occasional sale. PLEASE GET SOME NEW STAFF AT THE CASH REGISTERS.

I used to love Murdoch's and after returning to Laramie from living elsewhere for several years, I went to shop there today. I won't be going back. NOne of the employees were wearing masks and none of the customers besides my husband and I were. I wear a mask to protect other's in case I am unknowingly infected. I will spend money where I get the same respect.

I purchased a $2400 riding mower approximately 8AM on Monday. It was to be picked up on Tuesday in running condition at the store according to the manager. It was not available on Tuesday, but I was informed that it would be there on Wednesday. Wednesday afternoon I called and there was still no mower and I was told they might have another one available in 10 to 15 days. I drove to the store and asked to talk to the manager who said the mower was shipped to another store and sold.
Either the store sold me an item they did not have or it was sold to someone else after I purchased it. Either way that is fraud!
I have been a regular customer since the Laramie store opened but with that kind of incompetent management I will not shop there again. If I could rate it lower than one star I would.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Peter,
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you. Unfortunately, the mower you ordered at our Laramie location was sent to the wrong store. We have identified why this miscommunication in the shipping process occurred and are working to make sure that something similar doesn't happen again. We value your business and hope that you give us a second chance sometime in the near future. In the meantime, the Laramie store should have your mower back in stock.
Sincerely,
Murdoch's Customer Service Team - Carol M.Kampong Pasir Ris, Singapore12622Jun 25, 2016
I cannot believe the new manager who demonstrates that she has no respect for her employees. I witnessed her"dress down" an employee in front of customers which clearly shows her guerrilla management style. I will not support a business with a manager who behaves in this manner. Note to John Parks very disappointed in your management team in Laramie. The now assistant manager spent his time hiding whether that was in his office or "out of store" and now the latest. You have quality people treat them well.
